Young OTOP 2025

The Ministry of Interior, through the Community Development Department, is committed to strengthening grassroots communities in a sustainable manner, under the Sufficiency Economy philosophy and the Five-Year Operational Plan (2023–2027). Its “Learning-Participation-Raising Standards” approach aims to improve the quality and identity of local fabrics for global markets, and, over the past twenty years, its One Tambon One Product (OTOP) project has been pivotal in creating jobs and boosting income nationwide while preserving traditional skills across generations and transforming that knowledge into contemporary products.

Recognizing the importance of empowering young people as a key factor in preserving and extending invaluable local wisdom, the Community Development Department launched the Young OTOP project, to enable a new generation of artists and entrepreneurs to create modern textiles and craft products that meet both domestic and international market needs.

In today’s digital economy and society, with new entrepreneurs driving change, Young OTOP has grown to understand ever-evolving consumer groups. The project disseminates modern skills in design, systems thinking, and professional brand communication, while at the same time honoring local culture, in line with the contemporary Sustainable Fashion and Fun with Thai Fabric initiatives of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.
The Young OTOP Product Wisdom to the Global Market project for 2025 is implemented in collaboration with experts from diverse fields, and with the Fun with Thai Fabric project team, to integrate knowledge and skills across disciplines, and to help new entrepreneurs compete internationally in textile and eco-friendly product creation. The project builds on ideas and strategies from the Thai Textiles Trend Book to develop branding and packaging, shape marketing and distribution channels, and support a creative design process that links local wisdom with contemporary styles.

The goal is to build momentum for the future, forge an inimitable identity through powerful storytelling, and to enable sustainable expansion on the global stage. As part of this project, the Ministry of Interior, through the Community Development Department, has published the book Young OTOP 2025, which showcases work by young people whose skills have developed alongside a revival of local craftsmanship, with value addition through innovation and design. This initiative strengthens Thailand’s soft power under the national creative economy concept, and transforms cultural capital into economic opportunity. It is a vital platform to inspire entrepreneurs, improve product quality, and drive the nation’s sustainable development.
