On 31 October 2024, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya presided over the 2024 national final round of the “Princess Sirivannavari’s SiriVajiraporn Motif” and Handicraft Contest and joined the panel as the president judge. Over 78 finalists, from a total of 8,654 entries submitted nationwide, competed in the event, held at Suralai Hall, 7 Floor, ICONSIAM, Bangkok.

HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya researched textile patterns nationwide and designed 4 variations of the “Princess Sirivannavari’s SiriVajiraporn Motif” on 22 February 2024, during a visit to Ban Khampun, Warin Chamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. These motifs were created for 4 fabric types: Kab Baw, Yok Jok Khit, Phraewa, Mudmee, and Batik. Artisans are encouraged to integrate the motifs with traditional designs to create jobs, boost incomes, and sustainably enhance quality of life. This initiative was part of the celebration of the auspicious occasion of the 6th Cycle (72nd) birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on 28 July 2024.

The “Princess Sirivannavari’s SiriVajiraporn Motif” and Handicraft Contest is part of the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” royal initiative to elevate Thai textiles and handicrafts to international standards. Organized by Ministry of Interior through Community Development Department, this annual event, now in its fourth year, aims to preserve, advance, and honor traditional arts while inspiring those who sustain and innovate these crafts.
