Silk Festival 2025: Toward Sustainable Development
Silk Festival 2025 is a showcase of Thai textiles, offering a new perspective on Thai fabrics as wearable, contemporary, and well-suited to everyday life. The event presents the achievements of the Fun with Thai Fabric royal initiative by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who has received UNESCO’s certificate in recognition of outstanding dedication to safeguarding living cultures, promoting fine arts, and advancing cultural and creative industries. The festival features royal projects that provide support to artisans nationwide, including the Nawha Model, the Donkoi Model, the Batik Model, the Ethnic Model, and the Sustainable Life Village.
This year’s Silk Festival will be extravagant, with many highlights that allow visitors to experience the intricate charm of Thai craftsmanship. The event features activities, knowledge-sharing sessions, and shopping and tasting zones; over 200 selected OTOP outlets offering fabrics, contemporary apparel, lifestyle and home décor items, and refined handicrafts; and a food zone with more than fifty vendors and live performances by leading Thai artists including Kantong Tungngern, Ningning Khamphanang, Tao Phusilpa, Warinrak, Vieng Narumon, and Bew Chitchariya.
The festival features an exhibition showcasing the behind-the-scenes success of the Fun with Thai Fabric initiative, and a royal medal award ceremony honoring contributions to the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of fine arts, and the advancement of Thailand’s cultural and creative industries.
The program also includes a mini symposium organized by the Thai Fashion Designers’ Association (FTFD) under the title, “Fashion Design Symposium: Thai Fashion and Textiles on the Global Stage.” Leaders from across the region will join the discussion, including Pam Quinones, deputy editor and fashion director of Vogue Philippines; Alex Fox, creative director of L’Officiel Vietnam; and Milin Yuvacharuskul, president of the Thai Designers’ Association. The session will explore the future of the fashion and lifestyle businesses, including emerging consumer behaviors and national market directions, and cross-learning approaches that strengthen creativity, culture, and economic collaboration within the Southeast Asian community.
A key highlight is the Thai Textile Wisdom Fashion Show (Sustainable Fashion), presenting creations from the Fun with Thai Fabric initiative. The showcase features more than 66 looks developed by leading Thai designers from 31 renowned brands, including SIRIVANNAVARI, VICKTEERUT, CHAI GOLD LABEL, and VATIT ITTHI.
