To celebrate the 38th birthday anniversary of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya on 8 January 2025, Ministry of Interior produced a historical photo book titled “Thai Craft Wisdom Legacy.” This publication aims to showcase HRH The Princess’s vision and intelligence in revitalizing and modernizing Thai local wisdom in fabrics and handicrafts for international recognition through the royal initiative “Sustainable Fashion.” The book highlights HRH The Princess’s royal visits to communities, as well as the success of the royal initiative “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook,” which has led to clear community development, creating opportunities for weavers and entrepreneurs nationwide.

The royal determination to continue the grand royal aspirations of HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya reflects the commitment to following in the footsteps of HM Queen Sirikit, who is HRH The Princess’s grandmother, in reviving the wisdom of creating fabrics and handicrafts as a livelihood for the Thai people. From a young age, HRH The Princess accompanied her grandmother to visit members of The SUPPORT Foundation in various regions, becoming deeply aware of the value of meticulously woven fabrics, crafted by farmers during their off-season. These fabrics are the national heritage that must be preserved.

The talent of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has been remarkable since young. HRH The Princess has shown a creative disposition, particularly in fashion design and has consistently engaged with work in these fields. The success of the royal initiatives, aimed at reviving local wisdom in Thai weaving and handicraft wisdom, is widely recognized both nationally and internationally. Notable initiatives include the royal project “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook”, seeking to revive Thai weaving and craftsmanship, and the “Sustainable Fashion” project, supporting environmentally friendly products. These initiatives have generated income and improved locals’ quality of life through a flourishing grassroots economy.

With recognition of HRH The Princess’s intelligence, the “Thai Craft Wisdom Legacy” Book serves as a record of HRH The Princess’s royal duties, including visits to communities and encouragement given to weavers, weaving groups, and Thai people nationwide. This book clearly illuminates how the royal initiatives have helped preserve valuable cultural heritage, fostering equal opportunities for citizens to lead better lives, while strengthening the society and the nation toward stable and sustainable progress.
