The Silk Festival was organized by Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, to honor HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya and promote the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” Project, a part of HRH The Princess’s “Sustainable Fashion” initiative, focusing on environmentally friendly production processes for makers and wearers.
HRH The Princess’s expertise in fashion design has seamlessly integrated sustainability into every aspect of local craft production, from start to finish. This includes mulberry tree cultivation, silkworm rearing, natural dye extraction, modernization of traditional patterns, and rebranding for a global audience. Additionally, renowned Thai designers were invited to create fashion collections using local fabrics from this initiative, reflecting the progress towards sustainability within the Thai fabric industry.
