Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, followed HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s royal initiatives to preserve and advance the wisdom of Thai weaving and handicrafts, ensuring its longevity alongside the nation. This effort creates jobs and income, improves the lives of weavers and artisans, and strengthens the macroeconomy sustainably. To promote local wisdom and craftsmanship, the department organized the “Princess Sirivannavari’s SiriVajiraporn Motifs’ and Handicraft Contest, with 15 categories. The competition aims to enhance the potential of Thai fabrics and handicrafts, elevating the quality of Thai fabric and craftsmanship. to meet international standards.

The ‘Princess Sirivannavari’s SiriVajiraporn Motif’ and Handicraft Contest, organized by Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, aims to honor HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s vision of inspiring weavers, producers, and entrepreneurs. The competition encourages them to creatively integrate the royal pattern with local designs from various regions, resulting in textiles and handicrafts of international value. In 2024, a total of 8,654 entries were submitted nationwide, including 8,124 textiles and 530 handicrafts—an increase of 1,568 entries from 2023. The artisans are dedicated to developing products that align with global fashion trends, following the royal initiative.

A noteworthy phenomenon in this year’s competition is the transmission of traditional knowledge and craftsmanship in textile and handicraft creation to the next generation, including the successors of entrepreneurs and young creators. Many of their works were submitted, demonstrating the ongoing transfer of wisdom from generation to generation. The competition also emphasizes gender diversity as everyone has an equal opportunity to participate, creating more dynamic works than ever before.
