Ceramic Creation Book

Ceramic Creation Book

Thai ceramics is a handicraft that has the potential to reach international markets. The Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior promotes and preserves local wisdom in ceramic production to ensure its continuity and to boost the grassroots economy. This book, “Ceramic Creation,” compiles knowledge of Thai and other ceramic styles, and is part of the Ceramic Arts and Handicrafts Promotion Project under the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” Royal Initiative.

The Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior is committed to promoting learning and participation in traditional crafts, in order to develop local economies. The aim is to ensure stability and security in the community through the creation of jobs; to improve career opportunities; to boost income levels; and to improve the quality of life for local people. The Bureau of Local Wisdom and Community Enterprise Promotion supports producers and entrepreneurs in enhancing local product standards and marketing strategies. It also expands market channels, aiming for “A stable grassroots economy and sustainable community through the philosophy of the Sufficiency Economy.”

The Ceramic Arts and Handicrafts Promotion Project under the “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” Royal Initiative, and its advisory committee, began by collating knowledge from leading designers and experts across various fields. Together, the project staff, committee members, and artists combine in-depth product development insights with the OTOP Premium Development Project for the global market. This offers a model for those interested in showcasing ceramic works developed within the project.

This book aims to publicize and raise awareness of Thai earthenware handicrafts, and to help achieve tangible results. It seeks to promote local ceramic products; inspire artists; create marketing opportunities for OTOP producers and entrepreneurs; and serve as a platform to connect local products to international markets. The initiative is intended to generate jobs and income for communities, fostering macro-economic success.

The Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior hopes this book will be of benefit to everyone who is interested in Thai ceramic handicrafts – by promoting learning, product development, and business opportunities. It is also hoped that this book will help preserve the legacy of Thai ceramic craftsmanship for future generations.
