“The Development Project of Craft Community College for Creative Textiles, Crafts, Thai Handicrafts and Arts” by Community Development Department aimed to elevate Craft Community College as a standardized learning hub that could support Thai handicrafts to grow sustainably in various aspects from economy, culture environment in alignment with the vision “Fostering stability, wealth, and sustainability in Thailand as a developed country through the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy,” of the 20-Year National Strategy (2018 – 2037) which set goals to navigate “national stability, citizen happiness, continuous economic growth, justice society, and sustainable natural resource” while enhancing Thailand’s potential in areas such as human development, well-being for all age groups, and fostering equal opportunities in an eco-friendly environment.
This project followed the royal initiative “Sustainable Fashion,” graciously bestowed by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, encouraging weavers, artisans, and producers to create eco-friendly textiles and crafts safe for both creators and wearers. Guided by the royal initiative “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook,” The project supports initiatives including mulberry cultivation for local silkworms, dyeing fibers with plant-based colors from local sources, replanting dye trees, and creating contemporary branding that reflects local wisdom. These efforts ensure high-quality products that meet international standards.
As the community development depends on local knowledge, skills, and collaboration of locals in each community, The Development Project of Craft Community College has been elevated into a standardized learning hub for Thai textiles, crafts, and handicrafts. By integrating expertise from the specialist team of “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” with local wisdom, the project produces indigo-dyed and batik fabrics of enhanced quality that align with global market demands. It equips OTOP manufacturers and entrepreneurs with modern design skills, professional selling techniques, and expanded market opportunities, fulfilling its mission to elevate Thai textiles to the international stage.
