Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior created a project to raise public awareness about HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s intelligence in preserving and furthering local wisdom in Thai textile creations, continuing the royal wish of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has regal endeavors in assisting the royal work of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana in furthering the royal wish of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in fostering sustainability in the livelihood of the Thai people.
HRH The Princess is determined to continue Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s royal aspiration of preserving and revitalizing the local wisdom of Thai handicrafts and textiles. With HRH The Princess’s intelligence, HRH The Princess visited local communities in four regions to leverage local wisdom with contemporary fashion while conserving identities and conveying stories of each community. HRH The Princess’s “Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook” initiative benefits Thais by creating community income and promoting Thai fabrics internationally through joy in using Thai crafts for everyone on all occasions.
The project highlights HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s royal intelligence in preserving local wisdom in Thai textile weaving, continuing the royal wish of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, with the following objectives:
• To uphold and preserve the monarchy’s presence: Educating the public about the monarchy’s role and publicizing the royal activities, particularly the royal wish of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to preserve local wisdom in Thai textile weaving to endure alongside the nation.
• To publicize the royal activities, visions, and intelligence of HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya during HRH The Princess’s royal visits with local people in four regions, as well as HRH The Princess’s contributions to designing woven apparel and preserving Thai textiles.
• To raise awareness about the local wisdom in Thai crafts and textiles from the four regions to OTOP entrepreneurs, weavers, future manufacturers interested in advancing Thai textile traditions, and individuals, especially youths, keen on learning and leveraging their community’s local wisdom in Thai fabrics. The project aims to enhance people’s livelihoods by revitalizing fading traditional local wisdom to regain popularity once more.
• To raise awareness, publicize, and enhance the reputation of preserving local wisdom in Thai textile traditions.
Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, Ministry of Interior, has held six workshop conferences in Khon Kaen, Chonburi, Chiang Mai, Songkhla, Udon Thani, and Bangkok. Thai fabric experts, Thailand’s leading designers, and professionals from various fields were invited to educate and train the project’s target group to develop and improve local wisdom in Thai textiles and crafts using contemporary approaches. Certificates were given to all participants.
