HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, with her expertise and dedication in Thai fabric, introduces sustainability standards from the global fashion industry to revitalize the contemporary allure of indigenous woven fabrics and handicrafts nationwide. This signifies a movement to celebrate distinctive local wisdom through environmentally conscious practices in fabric and handicraft production.
HRH The Princess believes that “Sustainable Fashion” can empower local weavers and entrepreneurs to lead sustainable lives and foster economic stability in their homeland, in line with the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. Efforts are made to encourages locals to cultivate mulberry trees, rear silkworms, grow native cotton trees, and utilize natural dyes from local plants, aligning with the United Nations’ goals of promoting sustainability on the global stage.
Community Development Department, under Ministry of Interior, has applied for Carbon Footprint certification for Thai fabrics created with a greener process from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to certify fabric work with Carbon Credit.
