\nBackground
\n<\/strong>The concept of community development emerged in 1940 and had a significant impact on the Commonwealth countries, including the United Kingdom. It emphasized people as the driving force for social change from its inception. This concept evolved into a \u201ccommunity development\u201d movement, highlighting cooperation between government and community members to enhance their well-being.
\nIn 1940, Thailand\u2019s Ministry of Interior introduced the Rural Community Development plan with two primary objectives: fostering good citizenship and improving people\u2019s well-being. In 1956, the ministry established Community Development Department to promote local community participation, initiating the first community development project the following year under the leadership of the Governor of Community Development.<\/span>
\nIn 1962, the Thai government issued the Ministry and Department Improvement Act No. 10, establishing Community Development Department as an organization under Ministry of Interior on October 1, 1962.
